The long-standing Cambridge Young Composer of the Year competition is being opened up to young people in Hertfordshire as well as Cambridgeshire as part of a wider initiative to extend opportunities for young composers across East Anglia. A new competition – the Snape Young Composer of the Year – will be open to young people in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex Winning entries from both competitions will be eligible for a new award: the East Anglia Young Composer 2017, to be announced at a concert in West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge on 29 October 2017. All entries to the competitions will be performed by a professional ensemble and receive individual feedback at the competition Finals.
