Composing Workshop

Saturday 5 May 2018, 2.30-4.30pm

Recital Room, West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge

How high can a bassoon play? What is a harmonic glissando on the horn? How far can a clarinet bend a note? What does a multiphonic sound like?

This workshop is ideal for any aspiring composers who want to know more about writing for wind instruments. It will be led by the composer Ewan Campbell, with specialist input from music instrumentalists on flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn.

We aim to cater for all school-age students with a wide variety of levels of musical experience and interests. The workshop will be of particular interest to those considering entering this year's East Anglian Young Composer Competition. This competition, formerly the Cambridge Young Composer of the Year, has now been extended to cover the whole of East Anglia. All entries will be performed by professional musicians at the regional finals this autumn in Cambridge and Snape, Suffolk.

The workshop and competition are organised by Aldeburgh Young Musicians in collaborations with Cambridge Youth Music.

Workshop cost: £15. Booking essential. Book online at:
