An interactive workshop led by Ewan Campbell, composer and judge of the Cambridge Young Composer of the Year Competition. The Workshop will take place in the Recital Room, West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge. It will include:
* an introduction to the instruments selected for the 2015/16 Cambridge Young Composer of the Year Competition competition
* practical guidance on writing for these instruments
* general guidance on composing techniques
* launch of 2015/16 competition, including announcement of competition brief
Who can take part?
This event will be of particular interest to those intending to enter the next Cambridge Young Composer of the Year Competition. It is open to all young people aged 17 years and under on 31 August 2015, with an interest in composing, who are resident, or go to school, in Cambridgeshire.
How to book your place
The Workshop is free but you must register in order to take part. Book your place online via the Cambridge Youth Music Website (www.cambridgeyouthmusic.org.uk). The deadline for registering is noon on Tuesday 16 June 2015.
This event is jointly run by Cambridge Youth Music and Cambridge Music Education Outreach, supported by funding from the Cambridgeshire Music Hub.
