Music Leader Training Day with Rob Wells of the Guildhall School of Music

Info

Cambridge Junction’s youth music project The Fiver Unplugged is hosting a Music Leader Training Day. The project develops and promotes folk and acoustic music with young people in Cambridge and surrounding region.

Lead by Robert Wells, this training day will introduce a creative approach to music teaching, exploring a structured method for working with groups of instrumentalists to compose new music. The day will be practical, involving a lot of playing, composing in groups, and leading small tasks that you devise. By the end of the day you should be ready to try aspects of this approach in your regular work with groups of various abilities.

Robert is a composer, workshop leader, electronic musician, producer and teacher and is widely regarded for his cutting edge approach to music education. He is an exceptional teacher who has taught in various contexts ranging from schools to prisons, and is a founding member of the Musical Futures project team.

The course is aimed at musicians of the folk/ acoustic genre or instrumental music teachers (of any genre) who would like to learn more about informal group teaching and train in becoming a Music Leader.

Places are limited so please book early by emailing clare@junction.co.uk

Please bring any instrument that doesn’t need plugging in.
